Wolvie

i dont draw many superheroes but when i do they're almost always Xmen. this was another doodle drawn while at work.

Battlestar Galactica continues to impress. we're experiencing some "filler" eps at the moment and even they're great entertainment. the subtleties in character development and interaction esp. between Adama and Roslin is really well done! the writing is really taken to another level by these actors. its good to see that sci-fi agrees and slated 'em another season. of course we all know what happened to Farscape so i wont hold my breath...

i just joined Comicspace, which is a social networking site for comic people. i guess you could say its 'myspace' for the geeks.
so far its very cool...check it out by clicking here. i've posted a number of comic pages there and plan on more soon.

well, we're returning to Tampa so i'll be unable to post till i get back. look for some new sketches and another TV character in about a week. i plan to draw alot.

Bauer Power

so, my buddy brian suggested i draw a new TV character every week. he thot the Ben drawing i did was pretty cool and figured i could do all my favorite TV people. i think i like that idea and while i cant guarantee a new one EVERY week, i'm gonna try.

to kick it off officially, heres Jack Bauer from 24:

contemplating the idea of creating a company to make t-shirts.
i'd call it 'Zombie Faktory' and start with images like these.
not that i really have any time to do this but whatever right?

thots? anyone have any experience or knowledge they'd like
to pass on?

my Super Bowl doodle.

so the Super Bowl was pretty entertaining this year. quite sloppy, with plenty of turnovers and def very wet but still fun to watch. i was rooting for Peyton and the Colts, i've been wanting him to get over the hump and finally win that championship. when the game opened with the Bears' Devin Hester running the kickoff back for a TD and then Peyton throwing an interception, i wasnt too positive but i didnt lose hope like the wife did. sure enough, things settled down and the Colts went to work. in the end, they won 29-17 and Tony Dungy was the first black head coach to hoist the Lombardi trophy. one can only hope that perhaps a little of Peyton's championship form will rub off on Eli sooner rather than later.

the commercials were a big disappointment. the Coke ad done in the style of GTA was pretty good and the Garmin ad with an Ultraman knockoff was funny but not much else was. i did enjoy those office/jungle commercials from Careerbuilder but i only knew what they were selling cause i made a point of paying attention. TOO MUCH CBS! it seemed every other ad during the game was for one of the CSI's or some other CBS show. i know you wanna promote yer network while everyone is watching but jeez....

oh yeah, Prince put on a pretty good halftime show certainly the most rockin' in the past coupla years. the single best part of the night was when Layne started dancing and bouncing up and down as Prince covered Foo Fighters 'best of you'. HILARIOUS.

Julia attended another Veterinary Acupuncture class and this time it was in Tampa FL. its crazy to think that just over a year ago she was in San Diego doing the same thing when she gave birth to Layne. time is really getting away from me these days...

heres a picture of me and the boy on our hotel balcony. you can see more pics here .

some quick thumbs in the cyberpunk genre. its all i used to do but these days i dont visit much. def gonna try and rectify that and the first step is to take one of these to finish. i call the one i chose 'cornered'. its not necessarily finished, but its on its way...

as for other artists doing cyberpunk, you've gotta check out what Rez is doing over at Lead Salad. he's got a webcomic called "Monica Furious'. unfortunatley, its on a bit of a hiatus, but if you havent read it already i highly recommend it. i've interpreted MoFu a couple of times, here and here.

beware the angry waiters...

just finished page 17 of the 'project', 93 to go. i get up at 5:15 am everyday before i go to work, so that i can get a little uninterrupted drawing in. my plan is to stick as closely to a page a day as possible so that i have an 'end-point' in sight. the kicker is, i'm only doing "loose pencils" at less than half the size of the final product! when i'm done with this stage, i'll then do the actual-size tight pencils. thankfully, Platinum's full-size page is not 10x15, its 6.6x10.20 or sumthin close to that.

this was originally intended as the starting point for a tshirt design, but i lost direction and steam.
a relatively recent sketch done at work. it gets SO DEAD after the coffee and cigarettes crowd that i often have to find a way to fill the time. some decent idea have come out of these half-assed sessions...

in anticipation of Lost starting next week, i give you my interpretation of Henry Gale aka Ben.

so, i've finally gotten back to this 'blog thingy'. my excuse is a baby boy and an almost paralyzing fear of committing my words to a sort of permanence. i tend to over think everything to the point of not writing anything at all...so anyway heres another go:

my original plan is still in effect and you can expect to see random art postings as well as musings and the occasional media review. my fulltime art gig as the artist of an upcoming graphic novel is keeping me pretty busy but i do try to make time for sketching and thats mostly what you'll see here, mostly...
